What Women Want
At fourth element, we want to ensure that we are listening to and working with the women of diving that we champion every day. To check in on this, we put out a call to the members of the Girls that Scuba facebook and instagram group to design their perfect piece of swimwear! We received many fantastic designs but most importantly, we gained vital insight into the requirements that female divers and lovers of the ocean have for their swimwear, and just how vastly these can vary according to individuals’ taste, sport, confidence and body type.
What We Learnt
Every entry was significantly different to any other, but the main theme throughout was for the swimwear to be sporty and supportive, but not to compromise on the femininity of the design. This is something that our female staff have also recognised and requested in our swimwear range, and so we’ve been working hard to achieve maximum sport performance swimwear, in appealing designs and flattering cuts.
What We Do
The amount of variation in the designs confirmed that we all have different ideas and requirements about what works with our body shapes and what makes us feel and look great. This is the big challenge that our design team face, and one that we hope has been achieved in our most recent Destinations collection.
This range has a variety of beautiful, sporty and functional swimwear which we have designed in colour ways that allow you to mix and match to make your swimwear customisable to fit your own personal requirements.
We were very grateful for the time and thought that went into all the swimwear designs, but we are pleased to announce that the lucky winner chosen at random is… Katie Jellies, who will receive a bikini set or swimsuit of their choice from our new Destinations Collection.
We love the design with all the in-depth annotations and agree that swimwear can (and should) be fun, flattering and functional all at once! We also love the ocean inspired colours, this was another prominent theme throughout the entries and something we’ll be taking into consideration for future swimwear collections.
All of the themes, suggestions and feedback have been examined and discussed by our design team who are beginning to work on our next collection. Whilst the new colours and the designs will be kept under wraps, we do know that the pieces will continue to be made from ECONYL® recycled nylon from ghost fishing nets and other waste materials, and will have the regeneration of our oceans at their core.
