Reasons to be Cheerful
Today is officially known as Blue Monday. And it definitely feels pretty flat. World politics have gone crazy, most of us are in lockdown and the fourth element sale has finished. What’s to love? Well plenty…
Appreciate your loved ones
Surround yourself with what you love. Get whatever dive gear you own, spread it out on the kitchen table and the living room floor and get tinkering. You know that annoying D-ring that is two inches too low? Now’s the time to move it. That time you thought mermaid stickers all over your cylinder would look cool? Scrape ‘em off, what were you thinking? Leave your kit out so your house resembles the beautifully haphazard dive site that we all know and miss. There’s nothing you/your partner/your dog will love more than to trip over your weight belt at 6am on the way to the bathroom. Feel the love.

Knowledge is power
How many of us would pass our driving test if we took it again now? Well, hopefully quite a few (gulp) but you get our point. It’s the same with our diving – we can get into bad habits all too easily. Now is the perfect time to revise your online course notes, or check out some How-To videos on you tube. Find some fish ID sites and learn the name of that annoying silver one who keeps using your mask for target practice. And when it’s finally time to dive again, don’t forget to tell all your buddies about what you have learned. You may even wish to point out where they have been going wrong. Trust us, they’ll thank you for it.
Winner takes it all
You didn’t win the fourth element Christmas Competition. We know. We’re sorry. We could say you’re all winners in our eyes, but that would make you want to punch us, and we’d deserve it. But all is not lost – head over to @fourthelementdive on instagram (if you’re not on instagram, who even ARE you? Join now and get down with the kids) and enter our #divedryjanuary competition to win a set of undersuits. And remember the infamous UnderBathWater Photography Competition? Start polishing your lenses and watch this space…

Fear of missing out
You miss dive holidays. Yup, we’re with you there. With travel restricted considerably, it feels like we’ll never get to visit the ocean, wrecks, caves again. We’ll miss our chance to hang with the hammerheads or mooch with a manta. But hold your (sea) horses, sunshine – the ocean isn’t going anywhere and we’ve already seen that this respite from human activity like shipping and commercial fishing gives marine life the chance to rejuvenate, re-populate and more than likely positively rejoice. So think of it as a holiday for the ocean, and when we are lucky enough to join our fishy friends, we should do so with awe, respect and compassion.

A spot of therapy
If all else fails, there’s nothing else for it. Shop your way to happiness at life.fourthelement.com. And happy you shall be, as we’re positively peeing in the wetsuit of excitement with all the brilliant new and innovative gear we’ve got coming out in the next few months, including our NEW Xenos 7mm!
So grab a coffee, put a smile on your face and dive in…
