Test the Arctic Undersuit whilst Ice Diving
While Centennial Beach in Barrie Ontario may not be a glamorous dive site in the middle of March, it's the perfect place for doing some Ice Diving. It's not so much about what there is to see there, although the JC Morrison is a nice little wreck, but more about the opportunity just to dive where and when most people don't. Watching bubbles roll around on the underside of the ice is one of the most beautiful things to see, and you are barely under water (not counting the 18" of frozen water overhead).
Ice diving isn't for everyone, and you definitely need the right gear. The dry suit, redundant air source, tether ropes and such are obvious, as is the Fourth Element layers. While tendering others, we wear the SubX suit and can even put the Ozone jacket underneath if it's really frosty. For diving, we're wearing the best, with the Drybase and Arctic layers and NEW dry suit glove liners. We're billboards for Fourth Element, but at least we're warm billboards!
