Beatrice Rivoira - Italian marine biologist and addicted scuba diver
Beatrice is an italian marine biologist and addicted scuba diver. She has started at the age of 16 following her brother and father's footsteps and never stopped since. Her passion for marine life and scuba diving influenced her study path and, in 2011, she completed her university period with a Master's degree in Marine & Oceanographical biology.
Simultaneously she continued with her diving career working for many years in some of the most beautiful islands of the Mediterrean Sea (Isola d'Elba and Sardegna) and on the reefs of Pulau Bangka (Indonesia).
With her colleague F. Notari, she is co-author of the book BIODIVING (ed. Magenes), which is focused on the Mediterrean species and environments, and contributed to other texts related to technical and rebreather diving from the biologist point of view ("Beyond the wreck" - "Rebreather: why not" - Ed. Magenes). She writes articles about marine biology which are destined to spread environmental education troughout the diving community.
Her diving passion conditioned all her life and grown up together with her experience bringing her to acquire the nautical licence and an "SCTW 95 sea survival training". Diving every pond of water she could find, she travelled from Indonesia and Caribbean, to Scotland and Ireland, from rivers to lakes...last year she even worked in a dam at 2500 m of altitude (+3°C/+5°C, no visibility).
In 2014 she joined the society Zero Emissions through which she continues to teach, travel and promote environmental education.
In 2015 she joined the SEDNA Epic Expedition team for a snorkel relay of the Northwest passage (and much more!).
Afelandra´s professional life started as a model, however science was her calling.
