Sven De Vos - Experienced Technical Diving Instructor and Underwater Photographer
Sven started diving in ’95 in the tropical waters of the reserve Cousteau in Guadeloupe. An experience that proved to be life changing!
He currently offers cutting edge dive education, sharing his passion with his students, by offering high quality, personalised training from the basics up to technical trimix and rebreather courses.
Graduated as a civil engineer in ’95, Sven started a corporate management career in the real estate sector, but couldn’t resist the call of the blue. Starting out as a Padi Staff Instructor, interest in teaching technical courses led to certification as IANTD rEvo Rebreather Instructor, and PADI TecRec Trimix instructor. He is one of the few foreign dive instructors who obtained the French BEES1 state certification. Sven is also a DAN Instructor, dedicated to high safety standards.
In 2009 the diving activities became professional, by setting up ThinkBlue, a dive organisation focused on technical diving. Technical diving came as a mean of being more aware and pushing the limits with maximum safety, and the long and deep total comfort dives pay off for it! Sven uses the FE Arctic to keep him warm.
Aside from teaching, current projects include an expedition to the wreck of the Protée, a 1930’s French build military submarine sunk at the end of the second world war. The 100m wreck is resting in 127m of water in front of the French Mediterranean coast.
Personal interests include a love for underwater fauna - from the tiny colourful critters in South-East Asia over the sweet water life in the European lakes to the pelagic in Galapagos. When time allows, photography provides an extra challenge, playing with light and composition to bring out the magic and beauty of the underwater realm. Sven is married and a father of four, living in Antwerp, Belgium.
